Our History

January, 1997

In January, 1997, my brother and I were discussing the state of Internet accessibility in Sunnyside, Washington, where my brother lived. Eventually the discussion led to a decision purchase a local Moses Lake Internet company called ATNET Connections.

March, 1997

We purchased ATNET Connections in March of 1997.

Over the next three years, ATNET grew from 300 users to 2600 users and with the growth came great challenges and we learned a lot about customer service and the Internet.

March, 2000

In March of 2000, ATNET was sold to a much larger entity called ClearData. Our hopes were that ClearData with its larger staff and more experience would be able to better meet the needs of the ATNET userbase.

It didn't work out as we had hoped. ClearData failed to take good care of the users which eventually resulted in ClearData declaring bankruptcy in December, 2000.

January, 2002

In response to requests from many of the old ATNET users, I decided to decided to start another Internet company.

On January, 2002, my new company began servicing customers. It is called Grant County PowerNet. It provides Grant County customers with Zipp Fiber Optic Internet Access and 56k Dial-up Internet Access. Here is a link to its website: www.gcpower.net.

Wireless Radio Tower

Wireless Internet Connections

Back in 1997, we had experimented with wireless radio solutions and had done several cross-town connections to provide high-speed Internet access to locations which could not get access from the telephone company.

For many years, Samaritan Hospital connected to the Internet from its hilltop location to the ATNET Business site via a wireless radio. It worked very well.

I liked the idea of wirelessly connecting customers to a high-speed backbone and it certainly worked well, but at that time, 1997, the radios were very expensive to purchase so installations were limited.

The wireless idea never really went away, it was simply put on hold. Eventually the price of wireless Internet radios came down and other companies began selling wireless Internet access.

Autumn, 2004

Finally, in the fall of 2004, I set up a couple of wireless access points and created a new wireless Internet service company called Crest Internet.

Over the past two years we have operated on an experimental basis and have provided for a small number of wireless customers. Now we are ready to expand our coverage area and begin offering service to more people.

Because my background is in networking and connecting people to the Internet, I can offer many solutions for accessing the Internet, either for your business or your home. I hope to expand our current areas of coverage in the near future. If you call and I cannot give you access today, please call back in a month or so and see what has changed.

We are now on the move to expand our Moses Lake wireless operations.
